We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to join our friendly and experienced team on a full-time basis for the busy survey season (1st April – 31st October). Please note that this position may be offered on a permanent basis at the end of the contract period. You will be based at our Grade II listed offices in beautiful Bradford on Avon (near Bath) with flexible working available if preferred (three days in the office/on Site and two working from home).

What you will be doing

  • Assisting with protected species surveys, including bats, reptiles, dormice and GCN. There may be opportunities to shadow other surveys including otter and water vole.
  • Assisting with habitat surveys and condition assessments.
  • Contributing to PEA reports, species survey reports and technical notes.
  • Undertaking desk studies for a range of projects.
  • Acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works for a range of projects.
  • Assisting with BNG assessments using the statutory metric.
  • Assisting with the management and preparation of survey kit.

What you need to have

  • Graduate/ post-graduate degree in a relevant subject.
  • Some survey or volunteering experience would be an advantage.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle insured for business use.
  • Enthusiasm and a desire to learn!
  • Excellent attention to detail.
