Seasonal Ecologist – Fixed Term Contract

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic Seasonal Ecologists to join our friendly and experienced team on a full-time basis for the busy 2026 survey season (1st April – 31st October). These positions will provide some excellent experience for your CV and you may be offered a permanent Assistant Ecologist role at the end of the contract period.

You will be based at our Grade II listed offices in Bradford on Avon with flexible working available (a minimum of three days in the office or on Site is required). Training and support will be provided for all elements of the role, as required.

 

What you will be doing

  • Assisting with protected species surveys, likely to include bats (emergence and activity surveys), reptiles, badgers, dormice and GCN. There may also be opportunities to shadow other surveys such as otter, beaver and water vole, depending on project requirements during this time.
  • Assisting with UKHab habitat surveys and BNG condition assessments.
  • Contributing to PEA reports, species survey reports and technical notes.
  • Undertaking desk studies for a range of projects.
  • Undertaking bat call analysis and infrared camera analysis.
  • Assisting with the management and preparation of survey kit.

 

What you need to have

  • Graduate/ post-graduate degree in a relevant subject.
  • Some survey or volunteering experience would be an advantage.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle insured for business use.
  • Enthusiasm and a desire to learn!
  • Excellent attention to detail.
